This beautifully crafted credenza, with shapely legs and fabulously tactile inset handles, was made by Remploy in the 1960's.
It has two roomy drawers with cupboard space on either side, offering plenty of useful storage despite being compact in size. Sleek surfaces in Farrow & Ball 'Off Black' Estate Eggshell frame the gorgeous woodgrain and give the piece fresh, modern appeal. A diamond hard satin varnish finish provides protection and a glorious sheen.
A versatile piece, equally suited to the living room, dining or play area or for use as a dressing table in the bedroom.
Remploy was was formed in 1945, to provide employment and training for people injured during the Second World War, and for disabled miners. The first factory opened in Bridgend in November 1946, making violins. There was a rapid expansion of factories throughout the 1940's, and by 1950 there were 84 factories. At its height in the late 80's, Remploy employed more than 10,000 people, the vast majority of whom were disabled. Probably best known for producing furniture, the company at its height produced an array of products, including knitwear, protective clothing, automotive parts, orthodontic and medical products, electronic components including vibrators!, household goods and shoes for racehorses, as well as growing flowers and tomatoes.

All my items are carefully restored, with every attention to detail. But remember, they are hand-painted preloved vintage pieces, so please expect characterful imperfections rather than a modern factory finish. This piece is in very good vintage condition - any blemishes are minor and commensurate with age. On close inspection, it looks as though the handle on the left cupboard door has been reattached at some point, but this in no way alters the aesthetics or functionality of the piece. If you have any questions at all regarding the condition of this piece, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
