Schreiber are certainly well known for their signature curved drawer-back design - however I have never seen a Schreiber piece in this completely curvy style before. I have trauled the internet endlessly, but only managed to find two pieces like it, and very little information - apparently, this 1960's range was only manufactured in very limited numbers.
The design is beautiful. Molded plywood surfaces create a seamless unit with no joins and gently rounded corners, resulting in a piece that looks equally lovely from the front, back and sides. The drawers are also molded, and contain no screws, nails or glue.
It has been newly restored and restyled, with surfaces in Farrow & Ball Sulking Room Pink, solid brass drawer pulls and a simple linear triangle design in metallic gold to the lower drawer. The original legs have been stripped back and revarnished to finish.
Thanks to its unique '360°' design, this gorgeous little piece would be equally suited for use as a bedside cabinet positioned against a wall, or as an occasional table, next to a sofa for example, where the back can also be seen. If you are searching for a bedroom set, it compliments my newly refinished G Plan drawers in Sulking Room Pink beautifully (available to purchase separately).
My items are carefully restored and restyled, with every attention to detail. However they are handpainted, pre-loved vintage pieces, so please expect characterful imperfections, and not a factory modern finish. This piece is in lovely refinished vintage condition, any blemishes are minor and commensurate with age. The drawers are in good condition inside, one bearing the gold embossed Shreiber maker's mark.
