This beautiful 'Trento' sideboard was designed by Nils Jonsson for renowned Swedish furniture maker Troeds during the 1960s.

Troeds was founded in Sweden in 1934 by Svea and Hugo Troedsson. Throughout the mid century era, Troeds manufactured some of Sweden's most celebrated and desireable pieces; collaborating with leading architects and designers to offer refined furniture designs that effortlessly combined elegant form and function, helping to define the Scandanavian Modern style. Their furniture became highly sought after in the UK during the 1960s, but it was only available to purchase at the most exclusive retailers - in London, Harrods and Liberty & Co were the only stockists - hence these days, Troeds furniture remains much harder to come by here in the UK than other mid century brands.

The Trento sideboard is quite stunning in its simplicity, with clean architectural lines, smooth edges and perfect proportions. Deliciously curved recessed handles provide a tactile edge. The exterior is crafted from highly grained teak veneers with a gorgeous honey-gold patina. The interior is finished in blonde birch - two doors slide open to reveal separate cupboards with adjustable chamfered shelves, and four spacious drawers sit alongside, the uppermost drawer boasting a royal blue baize lining with dividers and a sliding tray inset. This piece is not only lovely to look at, but provides plenty of flexible storage too!

The Trento's sleek design sits just as comfortably now in a modern setting as when it was first born 60 years ago. No doubt this fabulous piece will make a truly stunning addition to any contemporary home.

It is impossible to do this piece justice using only five photographs! - please do get in touch should you wish to see more.

RETRO
This fabulous credenza has been sensitively revived for sale, but please remember, it is a preloved vintage piece - expect characterful imperfections commensurate with age and use and not a fully restored / factory modern finish.
It has been well looked after over the years and remains in lovely condition overall, with only minor blemishes and imperfections, as to be expected. There is some colour variation, some faint marking and the occasional minor scratch/nick, but nothing at all glaring.
The top and sides have been sanded back and resealed using rich Danish Oil to protect and enhance the beautiful grain. The veneer along the very bottom edge of the right side panel has thinned a little but remains sound. The frontage is in lovely original condition, with just one small but slightly more obvious scratch to speak of on the left door (near the top right corner). Any other blemishes are minor and only visable on close inspection.
The birch interior remains in near perfect condition, with no major marking or damage. The drawers all run smoothly, and the original royal blue baize is present in lovely condition inside the top drawer. The Troeds maker's stamp can be found inside the left cupboard.
The doors slide to the left and right with ease, but will slip slightly off their runners if pushed against. Don't worry should this happen though, they easily slip back in to place - a vintage quirk!

Please do get in touch should you require any more details/information at all. Additional photographs also available by request.
