With the arrival of this stunning credenza in to my care, Beautility have topped the chart once and for all as my favourite Mid Century furniture maker. Rarely have I come across two Beautility pieces that are quite the same. Their furniture is beautifully crafted, always unique and often experimental - by bringing a Beautility piece in to your home, you are treating yourself to something truly out of the ordinary.
Of course, this piece is no exception to the rule! At first glance, you will notice a shapely profile, open shallow-depth shelving at the centre (perfect for displaying books, glassware and smaller treasures) flanked by two generous cupboards - a handsome piece, with excellent storage. But this piece has a hidden secret... press in just the right place at the front, and the whole centre section rotates effortlessly to reveal a fabulous mirrored cocktail bar, with space to display your favourite bottles and glasses. Once rotated, it clicks firmly in to place. When you have poured your drink, press again on the opposite side to turn it back. Just wow! There are also two hidden drawers in the left cupboard (one with dividers), with space above - the cupboard on the right side has one shelf fixed at central height.
Fully restored and restyled with sleek surfaces in Coal Black Fusion Mineral Paint, metallic gold detailing, deco anaglypta patterning to the back of the central section and some surprise DesignRetro geometrics, there is no doubt this fabulous, one-of-a-kind credenza will make an enviable statement in your home.
It is very hard to do this piece quite enough justice in just five photographs - please do get in touch if you would like to see more, and/or a short clip of the rotating bar in motion!
Depth (at centre) 49cm
Depth (at each end) 43cm
My items are very carefully restored and restyled, with every attention to detail. However they are hand painted, pre-loved vintage pieces, so please expect characterful imperfections and not a modern factory finish. Instructions as to how the rotating bar section operates will be provided - the mechanism has been fully restored so that it glides around entirely smoothly, and there is no movement once it clicks into place. The drawers in the left cupboard are a little stiff to open and close, but fully workable.
For a courier quote, please send me a message with your full postcode, before you buy. Courier costs vary, depending on the size of the piece and delivery location. Alternatively, (at your own risk), you are welcome to arrange your own collection from me in Brighton.
• Covid Update:
Deliveries are currently permitted and courier companies are still operating, working to strict Government and public health guidelines, which will mean that they can only deliver to your doorstep, driveway or the pavement outside your home (having collected from me in the same way). If you are unable to or would rather not accept deliveries at this time, I would be more than happy to store your piece until current restrictions have been lifted and it is safer to do so. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to talk any of this through further •
CARING FOR YOUR PIECE
I prefer to use Fusion Mineral Paint where possible, a specialist furniture paint with an environmentally conscious formulation and virtually zero VOCs. It has a highly durable and wipeable finish - but as with any hand painted/refinished item, it will be important to treat your piece with extra care, to keep it looking lovely for years to come. Painted surfaces can be used gently after only 48 hours of drying time, however the paint will usually take a further three weeks to fully cure - during this time, heavier items should not be placed on top. Always ensure any items placed on to the surfaces are clean and not sticky underneath, use mats and coasters where possible and wipe away any spillages immediately with a soft cloth. Use a soft cloth to dust (dampen with clean water if necessary).
Please note, I cannot except responsibility for any damage caused to your piece, once it is in your care.
